generate the lease and sign
both of you · freetap "create lease". it generates from the verified application: both names and ID numbers, the property, rent, deposit, dates and term already in it. check it, adjust what you need, and send it.
you both sign online, on your phones. a signed copy lands in both inboxes and stays in your rento documents with the application and inspection. the lease-signing fee is waived because your tenant was verified on rento.
why free? a lease is only as good as the tenant who signs it. when your tenant has been verified, the lease is the easy part, so we don't charge you for it.

what does it cost me?
nothing for the lease. your tenant pays R249 once for verification, and that badge travels with them to any landlord on rento. your landlord account is free to start, and we show you the plan before anything is charged.
my tenant is already chosen. do they still need to verify?
yes, that's the deal. the lease is free because the person signing it has been checked. invite them from your property page, they verify in the app, and your lease generates with their verified details in it.
what if my tenant refuses to verify?
then you've learned something useful before handing over keys. the free lease is for verified tenants only, so without verification there is no lease from us.
is the lease legally valid?
it's the standard south african residential lease, aligned to the Rental Housing Act and the Consumer Protection Act, signed electronically with a full audit trail. ordinary residential leases may be signed electronically under south african law.
can i use my own lease instead?
if you're an agency with your own template, yes. private landlords use the rento lease, which is why we can fill it in and sign it for you at no charge.
does rento handle the rent or deposit?
no. rent and deposit go directly between you and your tenant, as they do today. rento handles the vetting, the lease and the documents.
